Although 2013/2014 is an Olympic season, there are several milestones to be reached, and many opportunities for superior results. Goran Janus will be the head of the ski jumping team for the third consecutive season.

This weekend, the new ski jumping World Cup season will officially kick off with a team event in Klingenthal. The season will culminate at the Winter Olympics in Sochi in February, and the World Ski-Flying Championship in Harrachov in March where Robert Kranjec will seek to defend his champion title. Moreover, the New Year's Four Hill Tournament is drawing close, and the spectators are eagerly awaiting the final event of the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica which is to take place at the Bloudek giant hill.

The jumpers are thus embarking on a very challenging season with a total of over 30 World Cup events. Head coach Goran Janus, working with his assistants Jani Grilc, Nejc Frank, and Matjaž Polak to bring out the best in Slovenia's finest ski jumpers, is breaking new records with his team season after season. Last one was certainly a dream come true as the team scored a record-breaking 4,664 points in the Cup of Nations, breaking past the 4,000 mark for the first time in the competition's history. Kranjec finished on the podium six times in the World Cup. Moreover, Tepeš won gold in Planica and bronze in Harrachov, and Jaka Hvala won in Klingenthal; hence, the two reached their first World Cup victories of their careers.

This weekend, our team at the opening event of the season, taking place in Germany, will consist of Robert Kranjec, Peter Prevc, Jernej Damjan, Jaka Hvala, Jurij Tepeš, Matjaž Pungertar, and Tomaž Naglič as the seventh competitor, who has recently been the most consistent among the contenders for the first team.
