Gorenje wins the "Portal" award for open public limited company

For the sixteenth year in a row, the Ljubljana Stock Exchange presented the Portal awards to Slovenian companies listed thereon. The jury consisting of representatives of investors and the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, analysts, and journalists presented Gorenje with the Portal open public limited company award.

In the recent 12 months, the stock-exchange-listed companies were faced with challenging economic conditions in which prompt, clear, and open communication regarding the performance, any deviations from the plans and budgets, and company plans for the future, was appreciated all the more by investors.

The expert jury evaluated the companies listed on the stock exchange by ten criteria of the quality of communication, corporate governance, communication strategy, and investor relations in the period from October 2010 to September 2011. The "Golden Portal" top award for the most open public limited company (or joint stock corporation) for the period 2007-2011 went to Krka, d.d. Gorenje came very close to the perennial winner this year. According to the jury, Gorenje's high standards of transparency in Slovenia are mapping out a direction for other stock-exchange-listed companies in terms of corporate communication and governance. Therefore, Gorenje was awarded the Portal open public limited company award for 2011. High responsiveness to the needs of the professional community, quality periodic communication, and international openness were the characteristics of the award winner that particularly stood out this year, the jury stated. Franjo Bobinac, Gorenje President and CEO, commented upon receiving the award: "The award is a result of several years of efforts invested by employees from various fields, as well as our pioneering work in corporate communication and governance in Slovenia."
